Hi all. I'm Marcy (a.k.a. veganprimate). I am a recent member of the vandwellers yahoo group and some of you may know me from there.

I am a traveling med tech, and I realized it made no sense to continue to pay rent on an apartment that I'm hardly ever in, so I made the decision to go nomadic.

I bought a 93 GMC conversion van and am in the process of getting rid of stuff. I don't foresee having to spend a lot of time in the van at present, b/c my company gets me lodging during my job assignments.. It would only be in between jobs, and there shouldn't be a lot of time in between jobs (unless I specifically request time off). So, I'm not in a hurry to outfit the interior for living...just sleeping for now. I'm not going to worry about getting a house battery or a propane cookstove. I'll do those things gradually over time.

Welcome Marcy,
How long have you been vegan? I have been an eco-eater for 2 years. I primarily eat fruits and veggies with the occasional wild game or pole caught fish. Very little processed foods. Moving around constantly you will adjust to thie lifestyle quicker than some of us. It sounds like you are making a smart decision getting rid of the apartment. You will find the answer to any of your questions here. The people on this site are always willing to help. Good luck

Hi Marcy!

We had a radiology tech at the RTR that was hoping to go full time with the same plan as you. Her employer paid for lodging so her vehicle would be for "in between." Plus she hoped to drive to some gigs instead of flying and take a more scenic route.

Anyways, it sounds like a great plan to me!

Cyndi

"Marcy" or Marcene? It's my daughter's name too.

Welcome aboard and good luck with your travels. FWIW, more and more hospitals are outfitting RV spots for patients and workers (short stay). Our Mountain Home, AR, regional hospital has four 50-amp sites with water and serwer hookups too. Free!
