I would be far more interested in an announcement that Sprinters will be available with gas engines. As it is, I don't find any appeal in a stripped down Sprinter package with a 4cyl diesel. I wonder if this is a proven engine?

I'll compare the fact that Fords are cheap to buy and service and Mercedes have been defective, unreliable rust buckets. A new engine option doesn't change that for me.

Wachuthinkaboutit?  Does anyone want to make comparisons to probably it's nearest competitor, the Ford Transit cargo van (low roof/short wheelbase)?

Very beautiful van that's for sure!

Good on pricing! You hear some bad stuff about Sprinters  reliability but I met a guy at the Rendevous who had put 500K on his while expediting and he loved it. Great gas mileage, tons of space, original motor and not many problems. If you get a good one you can't do any better than that.

It's got telescoping steering..Why doesn't everyone offer telescoping steering ?

I would jump on one if I could trust it enough :)

Thanks for the response guys!  I agree, the Mercedes does not have the reliability ratings like the Fords, and that is probably the most important thing.

How about a manual transmission? I would prefer a manual transmission.

Still too expensive. I figured that the high roof was the main attraction to the 'euro' vans.
$30K for a low roof, short wheelbase, under powered version.....no thanks.

I could find 2 late model E250/350's (or GM models) for that kinda cash.....if i even had that kinda cash. :(
(and put a new fiberglass hi-top on 'em)

My Ford van has a telescoping/tilting steering wheel.

I can't find one for the GMC Savanna/Chevy Express but I don't know why they wouldn't have them. They have them on the Silverado's

do you remember what year it was. i would run like hell from anything 2010 or newer with the SCR engines

It was an older one I'm pretty sure.

i had an 07 model and I never had any problems with it. I wanted to get the 4x4 version of it but I heard of all of the problems with the scr engines and how much it costs to fix them I said no thanks :D !!! my dealer has 2 year old sprinter vans for sale out behind the stealership for under 10 k because they can't figure out whats going on with them  . the only thing the mechs know what to do is throw parts at them and make em run till the next repair shop . by the time I traded in my 07 sprinter it had almost 200k miles on it with no issues though!! and they do cost a mint to fix because of the badge on the front. I wish that I never traded my 07 sprinter in!!!

how do you get good pricing   it's around 2 grand less than a short wheelbase 2500  with the low roof :s . personaly I would NOT want the repair bills :p  and the lack of customer support makes me shy away from them now as well you can't take it to any MB dealer and say fix it. if I was to get another one it would be the pre emissions one since the older ones were the best ones to own since they never broke down.
