I think I've said already on here somewhere that I am a writer. Well, I'm a new writer. My first novel came out January this year.
Here's my news - I'm having a book signing tomorrow!!!
I'm excited and I'm terrified. What if no one comes? I feel like I'm starting kindergarten all over again - what if no one likes me?
I literally had five people to confirm attendance on my Facebook invitation. It's not looking good.

I have never been to a book signing as either a writer (of which I am most definitely not) or as a fan. I wish you good luck. I bet a lot of the big name authors didn't have a lot of people at their first signing either. You fist signed books will be worth a small fortune when you get well established. You might make some small inconspicuous mark on them for historical purposes.

Congratulations. Keep your chin up and don't get discouraged, there are a lot of books and a lot of authors out there. It may take a little while get noticed by the masses and to stand above the crowd. Just try to relax and have fun with anyone that shows up and next time there will be more. Good luck.

I'm also nervous b3ecause when I first announced this, I thought my other book was going to be out by then, 17 PROMISES. But It's a co-writing project, one I don't have total control over, so the date was pushed to Dec. 26. Maybe I've rectified that issue by having a drawing for an ebook and a paperback autographs by both myself and the other author.

Fabber McGee: Thanks for the encouragement. :)

Get hold of friends and family and ask them to come and give moral support. Mark Twain said " Writing is easy, all you have to do is cross out the wrong words." and "Focus more on your desire than your doubt, and the dream will take care of it's self." I hope your future is as bright as you are, take care lterry

you never know you might be swamped and have to turn people away, my advice is bring a wrist band or stretch wrap in case it gets sore, congratulations, good luck

It's a 2nd & Charlies in Dothan, AL. You coming ? :D

Thanks so much for all the support, ya'll.

We would love to come to AL and meet you and give you lots of moral support (and get a book signed).  Unfortunately, I think I have 17 more working days until I retire and then will be headed in the wrong direction (from you, right for us) toward Quartzsite on the 4th of Jan.  Maybe when we pass through AL on our way to GA to visit my sister and mother.  Not sure when that will be though, could be the first part of December next year    Again, all the best wishes. :D

I'd come but I'm in Cali.

I wrote some ebooks also but haven't been
writing / promoting lately
mainly due to my M-F regular office job.

Congratulations Lisa! That is so awesome. I just got into Dothan on Wednesday and I would love to come to your book signing. What time?

Maybe you could just go to press with what you have, and call it 14.5 Promises? :D

Congrats and hope your signing goes well for you!

Congrats!

I'm not near you, but I will be there in spirit!

LOL that's an idea. It's actually written, just a little more editing needs to be done.

Lisa,

Just getting published is such a huge accomplishment. I would not worry about the turnout; the simple fact that you are having a book signing is a success in itself.

Thank you :) Yes, it's an accomplishment by itself, especially considering I did it myself. I'm one of those weird hybrid authors who started out traditionally published and hated the system enough to dip out early. All of my books are officially self-published now.
