This feels pretty exciting... the owner and I have agreed upon $10k for the truck, I have a cashier's check in hand, and we're supposed to meet tomorrow to make the trade   :D

congrats. did you get the tools too? are those Alcoa rims or copies? highdesertranger

Tools come with it which is cool, even though I already have most of the stuff, how can more tools ever be anything but a cherry on top?

Haven't a clue about the rims...odds are I could study them for some time and still not know, unless of course the happen to say Alcoa in big letters.

Now that looks like a platform!  Sweet deal, with tools and boxes to boot!

Let us know what you make out of it.

Lots of pictures! :D

Super sweet deal. Congratulations.
I'd definitely keep the rear lift for a back porch for those muddy days, just add an awing.

You thinking about cutting a passageway?

Again, great truck.

Definitely going to make a pass thru, and the side door entry will let me wall off the rear as a garage.

Initially I thought I'd get rid of the lift gate, but the more I think about it the more I like it. Not only can it be a patio, it adds to the stealth factor both in appearance and because it will allow me to hide any manner of venting or hook-ups through the door...

The only thing I'm not real keen on is the flimsy fiberglass roof...still debating how to address that.

That's a nice box truck. I like the side door. Also doesn't look like it would be hard to add a pass through door to the cab.

not long ago someone here did a build with the same see through roof and i asked them about it and they said it was no problem

is the back lift just a manual fold down or hydraulic/electric to the ground?

2002 130k,not been used at all,nice score

Just a heads up when you get around to the pass through. You might consider drilling a hole through the wall roughly centered where your going to make the doorway. Then measure from that drilled hole to the floor in both the cab and then the box. I got lucky doing mine and started with a drill. Once measured, the cab was 1 inch lower than the box floor. Had I started cutting with a sabre saw I would have been into the metal under my box floor.

Also, if your cutting from the box side make sure you move both seats all the way forward before you start.

This may seem like a no-brainer but sometimes it's the obvious things that get overlooked.

Hi, and ditto what the other guys said.  I look forward to watching your build as I've never seen a box truck go from a box to a place a person can live in....I have led a very sheltered life you know    :p      are you planning to make it a rolling home?...........Have fun.                       Jewellann/TJB
