Hello! I couldn't get the intro section to take a new message, so I guess I'll say howdy here from us, a retired couple and&nbsp;our two cats. For about 15 years, we had a converted school bus &amp; used it for West Coast travel from our base near Mt. Shasta, CA. Recently we got a teensy 17.5 ft Aljo, practically unused. We're in the lengthly process of finding a good used SUV or truck to pull the 3,000 lbs. Would love to hear about other teeny trailer campers with pets. We've car camped all over the Northwest, but not as retired and with our cats, who travel very well.<BR><BR>Cheers, The Williams

Thanks very kindly to the three posters who welcomed us! I appreciate it! On the Wheeling It blog, Nina has also given a link to a Boondockers Club, with a $25 annual membership. Does this site have another such organization? I looked quickly at the Boondockers section.<BR><BR>Tara and new folks, we're based just north of Mt. Shasta &amp; have been for 30+ years. Hoping to learn lots more!

Thanks again, two new-to-us nice posters! We'll be experimenting with travel in our teeny little Aljo (17.5 ft) as soon as we find a good used SUV or even a truck. We've been looking for months in our rural area and a bit beyond, but prices seem amazingly high for 2000+ reasonable mileage vehicles. Hopefully we can find one before spring gets here. We yearn to wander &amp; our two cats, one blind, love to be with us &amp; were great travellers when we rented a condo from a friend in Mesquite, NV last Nov.<BR><BR>If you don't gamble and ya don't golf, ya have to look a little harder to find enjoyment (othe than being out of the snow). The best thing we found was a rescue donkey ranch in Scenic, AZ--great folks and sweet soft muzzles!
 
Thanks! I like your line re end of the road. We'll probably always have a landbase here, but are more than eager to get out of the snow and cold from Nov-April or so. After a month in Mesquite, we know we need GREEN GRASS and FLOWING WATER to be happy! My home base as it were is just south of Mt. Shasta <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><br><br>The closest thing we have would be 2 different things:<br><br>1) Bob(the owner of this forum) is always welcoming, and usually has a handful to a dozen or more people camped out near him, wherever he happens to be.&nbsp; Currently that's somewhere in AZ.&nbsp; His blog has more information with details and stuff.<br><br>2) We have the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous(RTR), There is a bigger on in the winter, and a smaller one in the summer (usually).<br><br>Both things above are completely free.&nbsp; Well, and of course, this forum as well, which is also free <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><br><br>With Love,<br>Tara
 
Cheaprvliving now has a facebook page, where folks can see the whereabouts of tribe members and leave messages about their whereabouts for others. If you do a search, pick the one with Bobs picture, the other was a test and will be deleted as soon as I figure out how :)
 
Thanks to Lonfu. Hubby is leery of Mexican dentists but I have your report plus Nina's (of Wheeling It blog). We were in a friend's condo in Mesquite. Gas is crazy here, a bit less in Oregon. We built our land home in 1980, so we're well esconsed. Hubby used to race motorcycles in the LA deserts when he was a youth. We semi-converted the 1966 Gillig we had, and loved it, but driving ten gears is now beyond M"s endurance and I can't drive it, thus the teensy Aljo we got, before the truck/SUV to haul it! Can't wait to travel on the Oregon coast &amp; upward! (We sold the bus to a nice hippie from Yachats!)<BR><BR>Our home is at 3900+ ft, so we get the full blast of lingering winter here--can't plant the garden until June 1st! As I write, there's a patch of mashed up grass visible in the front yard, but it's mounds of glacial ice all over the back deck &amp; yard. We can hear the creek but would need a mushdog to get to it (slight exaggeration).<BR><BR>We're retired, too, and groceries and gas are eating us up! Michael keeps the place going in all aspects, but he's had back surgery. He's a fiddler, picking it up after 45 years, and plays in two bands (western swing). After 30 years in education, I spend my time here volunteering at the local animal shelter, esp. with cats.<BR><BR>Do you travel all around? Visit Oregon annually? I'm also on Facebook, Kathi Williams. I have two blogs but neither is working well, unfortunately. I had one on Blogger for six years, but then their photos got difficult to handle. Trying Word Press with the same title, but it's a bit opaque as to how to run things, so I'll wait to share my funny title...<BR>And kitten season is about to burst upon us at our non-profit little shelter in Mt. Muchas gracias again, Tara. It sure seems friendly! Openness and friendliness are in short supply it seems in this old world. Our team at the animal shelter is very tight & we have fun while caring for our precous cargo.
