In July we will be moving to a campground and living full time in it while my partner works for one more year until early retirement. We called and our regular insurance company said we are covered. Everything I read says to get different insurance when you are full timing. This will be our one and only "permanent" home. Do I need to get different RV insurance of some kind? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.
Peace and blessings.
What are you - a trailer or a motor vehicle? Our class b van was insured through Progressive as an RV. It also covered theft of items from and around the camper, as well as accidents for about $220 a year.

Our car insurance wouldn't cover it.
I've also one more year to retirement. * holding my breath*

My bus is also registered and insured as a Rv. A little more than $300 a year for FULL ( comp, collision, glass, fire, theft, act of god or vandal or anything in-between. $500 deductable.) coverage through Allstate. 20 yrs to retirement if I'm lucky..

Yes ,you do need to get full time insurance. This is what the Progessive site says

The Full Timer's Package provides coverage similar to a homeowners policy and is required for people who use their RV as a primary residence, which is defined as not owning or residing in another dwelling.

The Full Timer's Package includes Full Timer's Personal Liability coverage, Full Timer's Medical Payments To Others coverage, Full Timer's Loss Assessment coverage and Storage Shed Contents coverage, as defined below:

Full Timer's Personal Liability — Pays up to specified limits for bodily injury and property damage for which the insured is legally responsible because of an accident. Up to $500,000 CSL coverage is available.

Full Timer's Medical Payments To Others — Pays up to $50,000 for medical expenses of others who are injured because of an accident while on the property occupied by the RV that is used as a permanent or primary residence.

Full Timer's Loss Assessment — Pays up to $5,000 for certain assessments charged to the full timer while he owns or is a tenant of property in an association.

Storage Shed Contents — Pays up to $5,000 for contents located in a shed owned, leased or rented by the insured at the time of loss.

I believe that there are only about 4 or 5 companies that offer it.
