I'm thinking about buying this van

Anybody know what kind of fuel mileage this van would get , its a 2004 with the 6.0 , I don't like the idea of the 6.0  ,, I,'m more comfortable with a 5.3 or 5.7L

My van is similar and I get between 10 - 12 in the city
The hightop is worth it though. It's like a little VanPartment!

I have a 2002 with the high top and the 5.7L engine.

The last time I checked my gas mileage was on the cross continent trip back to Ontario from AZ last spring.

I got 16 mpg with it about as fully loaded as you want to get!

I have to admit though that I get better gas mileage out of all my vehicles than other drivers would get because of my driving habits - smooth rolling stops only when necessary, smooth gentle acceleration and driving speeds of no more than 60 unless passing on the interstate. I use cruise control as much as possible.

I have a friend with a Pickup in that Vintage.  Says he gets better than 15 on the road but it's a thirsty engine.
Claims it is dependable and he wouldn't part with it.  Hauls a trailer loaded with farm supplies with it.

He has a buddy who builds dirt track race car engines to reprogram the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) for him
with aftermarket software.   I think the best he does with it is 17 mpg now.

I think it's the 5.7 litre. It's a 2001 chevy express 3500 one ton.
