Hello everyone, I just picked up this van today and want to remove the high top windows. I’m not sure the best way to go about it on a fiberglass top to make it still look nice and sleek. I included a picture of the hightop and one of the windows. I’m thinking maybe I can have some of this metal cut to shape and adhering it on if I can’t do anything else.

Why not cover them from the inside and leave the integrity of the high top in place.

Are you absolutely sure you want to do that?

I have the windows in my high top and I absolutely love them. I didn't have them in a previous van with a high top and the difference is stunning.

The 2 windows in my high top allow a wonderful amount of daylight in giving the van a bright airy feel as opposed to a more cave like feel. The side slider windows allow for a tremendous amount of cross air ventilation that the fan in the roof vent alone cannot possibly equal.

I simply use reflectix inserts in the windows if and when I need to block out light like from overhead lighting when I'm overnighting in a parking lot.

I do have curtains hung on mine so that I can block most of the daylight should I want to.

Agree with Almost There about the windows in a high top.
At times pondered removing rear window and fiberglassing over but the light was so nice. The one I truly loved and sadly does not exists in my current lower hightop is the passenger side upper window that would slide open. I have a dog(s) and driving with that slider cracked or more created air flow that kept them and me comfortable. Hot air rises and that let it out. Some drive with the roof vent cracked but I didn’t like that as much as the side window.

I had good curtains on the regular van windows so I could stand, change clothes, look out, check my surroundings but not be exposed. Felt safer being able to see from a higher vantage.

For those who need windows and lights, that is sacrilegious and the questions why.
Why?

Couple options for you
No mods
- paint them with plastidip. Don't like it, peel off.
- cut out styrofoam to fit and mount on the inside either permanent, press fit or hinge to open for light when needed. Reflectix is great to reflect, light and thin but pricey imho, foam is cheaper and gives real insulation value.

Mods
- As you thought, cover with plywood, metal, aluminum, sheet metal, plastic sheet. Inside or outside.
- remove and fiberglass, most work, messy smelly and toxic, pain to work with but most permanent and best solution. You really have to want to for this route and make it worthwhile.
