OK, so after 9 months or so of dithering, I went out today and purchased my van. It's not much, but it's what I could afford, and it's mine!

'95 Dodge 2500 6 cyl, cargo van, 84000 miles, purchased from the original owner who used it to transport a part-time business. this little van loves to fly down the highway. It's stripped to the metal inside, just what I wanted, and other than a possible rotor replacement in one brake/cylinder system, and a tranny service, she's in great shape. Woo Hoo!

I'll post some pics of the van and the following conversion. Getting closer to that late Feb departure date!!!

thanks to all for your unending wisdom and creative ideas!

M.A.

Congrats Angeli!!!!

Looking forward to the pics and stories to come.

Congratulations Angeli

February is right around the corner...
Are you gonna get rid of the Focus Station Wagon???

Freeeeeeeeeedom.... WTG... Will see you on the road soon...

Nice Angeli, Can't wait to see how you're doing with your new van.
-Bruce

(sing along) ON THE ROAD AGAIN, got my van and now im on the road again!!
congrats!

Oh wow that's so great! ;-) We want pictures!

WEE HEEEEEEE!

I'm still somewhere in the stratosphere.

Yes, I'm going to start a build thread in the appropriate place, and will have pics up after this weekend.

She is now named Josephine, in honor of my great grandmother who was one kick-a$$ woman.

Ms. Bess, the Focus wagon is awaiting retirement as she is now starting to slip her gears at 180,000 miles. Heck, if I was that old I'd slip my gears too. Some folks say I slip my gears more often than I realize.

Thanks for the replies, guys! Let step 2 commence!

Congrats on the Van.

The V6 likely only has a three speed transmission, no overdrive, which is good come rebuild time.

I hope a tranny service stops the slipping.

Ask the tranny shop which fluid they are going to use. If they say they use XXX fluid with an additive and that it is just as good as ATF+4 they are thieves.

The bands should be adjusted to spec the filter changed, ATF+4 should be used, and hopefully the transmission gives you a lot more life.

If a shop wants to flush it, then drive away. Flushing does not require a pan drop or a filter change a flush can clog the filter. it is one reason that transmissions fail quickly after a flush. the other reason is that the flush was performed when the transmission was almost toast already and would have happened regardless.

A flush should be followed by a pan drop and a filter change, but this wastes new fluid.

Not trying to scare you, just arm you with knowledge concerning dodge transmissions and the likelyhood of tranny shops putting their profit over your best interests.
