As the title says, I love this site.
Yes, the title is all capitals and I WAS indeed shouting the phrase.

I'm still new here, only a week or so, but I've felt accepted and encouraged here, ideas are shared and compliments are given.

My plan of doing a Class B build out from an old Conversion Van myself isn't frowned upon and mocked.

I've got to confess, I've been cheating on you guys....... I googled "class B rv forums" and had several hits.

Visited many, even joined one.
I was discouraged to find that there are Many Class B snobs out there!

If you aren't rolling a commercially built branded unit, you are a type of bottom dwelling scum.

These other forums are populated by people who seem somewhat self righteous in their ability to own and drive units such as a 2015 RoadTrek or Sportsmobile.

That they were able to choose their foam rubber softness or interior layout during the custom build process.

There isn't the "can do" spirit on those other sites that is so easily found here.

This forum is populated by real people making their way through a very real life......
Not retired self righteous check writing CEO's who could buy me completely without missing the coin or noticing it was even gone from their accounts.

I know that there are probably some really good people on those sites rolling vintage era RoadTreks and Adventure wagons but they don't seem to be vocal or prominent.

Those other sites are the Class B people I've never wanted to be counted among, maybe that's why I've always embraced the VW Westfalia crowd? We're Just a tad "off"?

Anyway, it's good to be back "home".......I'm sorry I wandered away.

Like you, I belong to other forums, but the sensibility on most is that you simply add an expensive camper to your inventory of house/boat/several cars. The idea of living in your rig, unless you also retain the house/cars/etc, seems to only be okay in their eyes if you are doing it in a 100k rig. It's just the standard American dream with the addition of more toys.

So yeah, I like the attitude here far better. The idea that it's not only okay, but encouraged, to walk away from the yoke of "the dream" is very freeing!

The class B forums, all solutions to problems are to throw money at it take it to the dealer, complain really loud.

I had to quit visiting many forums over the years, but the class B was the first.

I am just a poor boy, who is more into truck campers than vans. I have a pickup and vans are so expensive around here.
Anyways, since am poor, I have to work with what I can afford, so it will be a fixer upper whichever way I go. I like this site because a lot of you are in pretty much the same boat as me.......and, I like the people here.

After watching without bound, I immediately joined this forum. I've always felt "at home" on this forum. There are people from all walks of life here, some retired, some working, some just taking a vacation. I'm a hybrid - I'm sick of the rat race, my house was a money pit, (key word being WAS, I got paid for it yesterday). I have a couple of money making gigs I can do as I travel, plus I'm not against getting part time jobs as I travel if I need to.
No one here has criticized me, really the opposite, everyone here is very supportive. The knowledge base is tremendous, and the ideas people put out here come with the logic for their reasoning. Very Informative!
I agree about the snooty attitude coming from other forums and sites. If you don't have a Class A or newer Class B and you even mention the word STEALTH, you are "Homeless" pond scum.
I too am just a poor boy, with a few bucks left to put in my new (to me) van, and with the help from this site, I can do it with confidence. I salute Bob Wells and all the fine folks here, they are like a new family to me.

Welcome back. Yes there's a lot less judgement here than can be found elsewhere, that's for sure. I always feel at home here, though everyone has disagreements from time to time. You know what they say, if two people agree on everything, one of them isn't necessary. Out of the box thinking is actually encouraged and supported here. You are not branded a heretic for having unique thoughts like elsewhere. And yes, you are not judged by the thickness of your wallet. Anyone can plunk down the cash and buy a "custom rig" but to be able to build one yourself takes vision, skill and dedication - things many who walk around with their noses in the air lack.

Another forum where the people share a can do, non judgmental attitude is this one: tnttt.com which stands for Teardrop and Tiny Travel Trailers. Though intended for the towable guys there are great construction techniques and ideas that can be applied to van builds, so it's worth a look-see if you haven't already visited. I don't go there often, but it is a great reference site with friendly, helpful folk too - just like here.

What sushidog said X 2. The Teardropp and Tiny Travel Trailers site is great for construction ideas. Poor man's fiberglass is inspiriation right out of the 1920's.

I would think that you'd find this fact somewhat worrisome...........

"I was discouraged to find that there are Many Class B snobs out there!"

HEY, I resemble that remark! I am one of those "B" owners, albeit a 99 Roadtrek with 95000 miles on it and I know exactly what you mean
about the snob factor. I belong to a "B" forum and I usually look thru it occasionally because there are a few owners of older RTs that sometimes discuss problems that I may be able to comment on or have ideas that I find useful. Before I got my RT I had done a DIY Dodge van conversion that served me well but the RT came along at a price I could not pass up, love the fact I can stand up in it.

That's what I love about this forum too!!!!

We are such a wide variety here from fancy rigs to not so fancy rigs and even those like me getting itchy to get her own and be on the road. But nobody snubs anyone here for what they live or travel in......we are all one big happy family.

Not to mention how helpful everyone is. No matter what the topic or kind of rig, there is a thread for it and all are quick to help.

It's what keeps me coming back as I get closer to truly being a van dwelling nomad myself. I love it here!!!!!!!!
