Mickey and Blue here!

Part of my story is that I have noise sensitivity and living in an apartment building has caused me immense anguish.

They kicked out my noisy neighbours, I had a month of peace in June, then they put in another bunch of noisy neighbours.

Last night was the last straw. I typed up my notice to vacate by end of September. 60 days notice is what's required but I gave them 84. I did this to create a greater sense of urgency in myself to get things sold and get a van bought.

And I am now listing and selling things. This has been the hardest thing to get going on but inertia has ended with this.

I would like to get my van purchased by end of July. Hoping I can afford something for around $7,000CAD. Mostly interested in a Chevy Express cargo van type. Then I'll have 8 weeks to get rid of the rest of my things while building out the van. Fortunately, I will have the assistance of one of my students "Chuck", a retired RCMP officer who has offered the use of his facility, skills and tools. I'm very grateful.

Thanks for listening :)

P.S I'll be a nomad guitar teacher. Interested in boondocking and immersing myself in nature and getting away from cities. Yearning for peace and quiet.

Doesn't it bother you many of those students you teach will go on to be the very people your trying to escape from with your noise sensitivity issues? LOL!!! Welcome! I would be looking for something to remote camp in if peace and quiet are an absolute requirement. Maybe 4x4 3/4 ton pickup and a 6' x 10' cargo trailer.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a good plan. I used to live in an apartment building in North Idaho. I understand wanting to get away from it all. Some of my former neighbors were stranger than others.

Hey bullfrog! Nah my students and teaching are a different story. Many times I come to my lessons strung out and come away from them more energized. I imagine my students will be good online company for me throughout the week when I'm out there. It's a teaching environment as apposed to the noises going on all around me that feel like an attack to say the least. I feel like I have no control over the situation. If it's not the neighbours across the hall, it's the ones above or below me, or someone yelling outside. It's like they all take it turns, when one goes quiet another will start lol.

Hey travelaround! You know where I'm coming form then! Yeah some are stranger that others. The elevators here are a nightmare and take forever. Sometimes it's 5 or 10 minutes getting from my apartment to the street. My wee dog is going to be so much happier too :)

I feel you about apartments, they're just stackable trailer parks. Good for you taking a giant step towards peace and happiness.

Now there's some perspective! The place and everything around me really looks and feels different. Thank you for pointing out that this was a giant leap in the right direction. It certainly felt like a journey to that moment alone. See you on the road some day!

I hear you loud and clear....when it is time, IT IS time and you gave notice and moving forward.

Any good vans or vehicle options coming into play yet? Seen anything that interests you out there in your market?

and having a build place set up with your friend is a great setup, it sounds like you really are ready to roll.
