Hey hey all!
Just joined up in search of help and guidance converting, or reconverting, my 97 Chevy Astro conversion van.
I'm planning on some cross country travels so will be living in it for, shoot depending on how it goes will determine that lol
I'm pretty much done with the deconstruction, I've got the back about gutted and close to being ready to start insulating.
I've got a rough design layout for the space but need to put pencil to paper to start nailing things down.
Thanks for having me!

Welcome Uncle Todo to the CRVL forums! We have a section devoted to vans that may give you some ideas as well as a section on insulation to get you started.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome uncle to do - I part time for over a decade in a GMC Safari and it worked out well. I assume when you say conversion van yours has a bit of a high top to it. I could not do the bending over thing into Safari anymore so I have a full-size Dodge conversion van that I can just stand up in. I was so disappointed in the Safari didn’t get any better mileage than these other vans the one I have now is getting just as good as the Safari did. I get 16 MPG on the highway and 14 around here. I can pretty much guarantee however you plan it you will change it. And change it and change it. It seems like that’s the way of life here in Van Villa.

Welcome but don't use nails :)

Ha, took me a minute... nope, my plan is to screw it up, down, and all around together!

Yes, mine does have a high top on it. I've always like the Astro/Safaris but wasn't looking for one in particular. I was looking for any high top conversion van without crazy miles, decent price, and fairly close by. I got my 97 with 62K miles for $2500 and only a couple miles away. Mechanically sound, runs like a champ, but it is a 23 year old vehicle so does need some attention. I was looking for something to do a road trip in, so I'm pleased with the 62K, plus I really like the dutch doors on the back. I'm 6'4, so I don't think I'd be able to stand fully in a full size, but at least I'm minimizing my stooping lol
