highdesertranger,
Awww Thank You for the warm Welcome and i will be checking in with my progress and hopefully get all the tips i need to be the Gypsy/ Nomad and i call it a Free Spirit :)

Welcome, Debbie . . . I too feel the gypsy spirit. My grandmother had an RV. My mom did too, and lived for years as a traveler without a fixed abode. We are mostly Irish - so maybe it is heredity! My youngest son is an over-the-road semi truck driver and my youngest daughter just moved herself into a skoolie a few months ago. We are all set to travel. I will most likely get my van next year.

Hopefully we will meet somewhere on the road of life. All the best to you ... oh, and I wanted to mention writing, since you're writing a memoir. First of all, condolences on the terrible traumas your family has gone through. So sad... anyhow, I too am a writer. Maybe we could have a writing thread somewhere here, like in the hobbies section of the forums. I love memoir writing and could be a good critique partner as well.

All the best to you. Happy travels!

there are a lot of us good old fashioned caring people still left out in the big bad world :), somehow we do find each other and make it work!   I am newer on this board and have seen many great people giving wonderful kind advice.  A forum I enjoy so far, one that actually helps and cares!
When you get the settlement and get your life in order, the open road awaits!  I bet many wonderful adventures come your way! You will meet up and make friends with some great people out there doing the lifestyle we love just like you are!

Greetings, Debbie Lynn!!

Got my PhD from the School of Hard Knocks as well but you certainly had your world turned upside down.
The good news is that each day is a new beginning...thank goodness. :)

Good for you making decisions that help you follow your bliss. That is my intent as well, I just forget it sometimes.

Peace,
Marcus

You got a Great Point glasschick66 and from me watching videos and following Bob i have learned alot But the one thing i know nothing about is buying a Van?? i don't know squat about cars or vans ::(nd i swear they see me coming, when i was Young like 19 i seen this car for sale a Mustang and it was freshly painted and it was BEAUTIFUL Baby Blue and detailed to the finest , well my Boyfriend at the time went around the car knocking on it and i thought what the heck are You doing?? well he told me it was a rust buggy and thats why the guy painted it?? well no way was i listening i wanted THAT CAR lol but i talked to the guy and i said please don't sell me a rust buggy is this car filled with rust?? he looked at me and said better listen to Your boyfriend sweety SMH so needless to say i didn't buy it but if he wouldn't have been there i would have bought it and he became my Hubby and he teased me about that for years to come lol.. I have been thru alot and my story has been a story made for a book most my life and that's why i am in the middle of writing a book. my dream is to be out in Nature and away from all the background noise ya know?? so any of You that would like the links to the new stories or the link to the bio on my book or both You can email me or find me on Facebook Debbie Lynn Hall or [email protected]  Thank You Friends for reading my posts and replying . God Bless all of You and safe travels and i can't wait to meet all of You and maybe travel together. Big Hugs

Hello from a fellow Michigander.

Well Hello LJ How are You Neighbor ? i am in Port Huron and next year i am heading out to the RTR so if Your gonna be there get ahold of me and we can have a cup of coffee or something :)

Welcome to the forum, Debbie. Like everyone has said there’s tons of information here . Plus everyone is willing to help answer any questions. And I think there are more van dwellers on here then anything else. Are you buying new or used ? If new you won’t have to worry about if it’s been serviced regularly or have the brakes been replaced and all that other stuff with buying used . But there are a lot of good low mileaged vans out there . I’m sure they will be able to steer you in the right direction. I say they because I’m in a class c ?. I like my shower and toilet. Hope to cya on the rod sometime. Good luck ?
