Currently have a 150 on the roof in fixed setup with 2 x 6 volt flooded my intention is to add either another 150 or 240 panel as a suitcase type using a Renogy 12/24 MPPT 40 amp controller will need the ability to plug the exterior panel into the system going to 24 volt would be beneficial ideally
running the wires from my controller to have outside plug and play connectivity any ideas?

It would be a royal pain to run a portable 150 watt panel in series with the 150 watt panel on the roof for a MPPT controller but it could be done. The issues would be that the roof panel would be useless if the portable was not in use and when the portable was in use it would need to be in the same position as the roof top panel to keep their voltages the same. (likely flat)

You would have to add the MPPT controller and run the portable as its own system. The lines to the portable could be put into a Anderson surface connection or just leave a couple of MC4 pigtails accessible to plug the portable into. I do this with my truck system by running the pig tails to the trailers tongue and then adding up to 60 feet of extension so that I can move the truck to follow the sun or avoid shade. I started out using MC4 connections but 29chico helped me switch to Anderson connections last year.

The biggest issue is having the ability to set both controllers to the same set points. I am in the area for a while if you will be should you want to chat.

Thanks Jim I just arrived back in SF after some coastal refreshments hot tubbing and swimming, did not get a chance to connect in person my bad just too many people and too many washes. Thanks for the heads up I like the Andersons as well and thought about 2 controllers and alligator clips from the surface mounted Anderson. Leaving the current installation alone and separate have 2 sources of power inputs. Where are you? PS: I so wanted to ask you about Indian spices and cooking, oh well next time, Adrian aka wagoneer
