Just bought the Honda and size was a big issue in my choice, I ran a Honda 300 for years then a 650 mainly tent camping in those days ( easy to work on the older models) primary use will be battery charging and emergency backup, i would assume synthetic oil would be the way to go?
 
I've been running Pennzoil Full Synthetic in my EU2000i for years , i even doubled the change interval.
(Two oil changes per quart ! you'll probably get more?)
