HOME DEPOT SHED to TINY HOME – Live in This for Under $8400 Delivered!

I may have sold one of the first tiny homes 40+ years ago. An 8'x12' I delivered to BH & the gent was showing me where he was putting everything & was estatic. Well under $1k at the time. Click watch on YouTube and it plays fine.
Here in Michigan you can build up to a 150 sf shed with no permit or taxes so get 2 put very close & use 1 for cooking/eating & the other for relaxing and sleeping with fold down bunks. Most places here allow outhouses. Make a 2 person wood fired sauna in one of the sheds &leave the door open to heat the shed. Put the outhouse near the sauna wall & run an 6" stove pipe & small fan to preheat the privy.🥰 No permits codes or inspections needed here for AG buildings.😆

Going back to 2018 and before that even, I had been looking to do the same thing....I found this one at a local Lowe's Home Improvement...$8674 back in March of 2018.

Prices have gone up, of course, but not unreasonably. You can add windows, insulation, wiring, plumbing, cabinets, etc, but in many places it's not legal to live in something like this unless it's on wheels.

Be sure to check the local laws and ordinances before buying one to live in.

I like the design but it would have to be built on site & this one is built poorly. Look at the siding joints and trim. It looks like it's 16'x24' which is the size I built several of. Don't have an open loft as it gets way to hot up there. Also have a large enough window upstairs & a chain ladder to throw out in case of a fire downstairs. If burning wood screw the stovepipe joints together 😁

There are also 'folding' houses listed on Amazon that are metal sandwich panels for around that same price, but delivery is obviously more expensive. No reviews on the ones I looked at. I think when I looked a few years ago the requirements in AZ are a heat source and a separate room with door for the toilet, which can be the basic bucket system.
