As some of you know I've been disabled the last few years, well four years to be exact.  This has been the first year i've been able to do things again and it's been tough trying to get to a decision and then stick with it.  I'll make a decision based on my current condition and then a few weeks later I improve and that previous decision no longer seems to best fit the bigger plan, which is to sell both properties on the East Coast and relocate out West.

A few months ago I thought I wouldn't be able to fix up my house in Maine based on my current condition but also didn't want to sit idle for an entire year waiting to get to the point health wise where i'd be able to fix it and sell it. So I thought buying a cargo trailer, converting it and doing a little bit of traveling would kill some time until I could work on the house healthwise.

Now my cousin has come forward and wants to buy our family summer home and I think I'm at the point I can finish the house in Maine and just get them both off my plate and be totally free.  So I just bought a 2004 travel trailer to throw on my property and stay in while I do the remodel.  I swore I'd never buy a mass produced RV again, but it was in great shape and only $3k and will def do what I need it to do.  Which is allow me to stay on the property a few months while I do the work.  Put the deposit on it today and will go pick it up tomorrow once I can get to the bank to get the rest of the cash.

Heck, might even venture out to the RTR with it in January if I still have it by then.  Even though I keep getting hit with different things everyday and change my decisions accordingly, i'm keeping my eye on the prize and that's dumping the two homes here and being free to travel un-tethered.  Looking forward to not paying rent anymore after this month as well, as I no longer  need to be in Massachusetts for weekly Dr's appts.  That will also be one less place I have stuff at right off the bat.

There was a point when I was considering picking up a $3k TT to live in while I did truck conversion. I decided that in the $3-$5k range there were a lot of solid choices in TT's and that I felt perfectly comfortable buying one to put in a fixed location and re-selling at a later date. Buying one to tow about the country, that's a different story. Glad things are moving in a direction for you!

Glad it's starting to fall inline for ya !
The TT looks like a nice one...
So U B a Mainah soon !
Oh Ayuh (you'll need to start practicing saying that so the locals don't think you're a flat-lander).........
Head on uvah ta Lord's ClamShack chummy !

Hope it all works out!! Sounds like the curves are coming in nicely!

Used to be another old (in his 80s) fellow on this site from Maine. He had moved to Quartzsite, AZ year round last time I talked to him. He was headed for RTR but he never really made it. Not sure if any of you met Pete?

I have to say I agree, lots of great units out there in the 3-5k range. I also agree that I'm not sure i'd be comfortable yanking it around the country but sitting in my yard while I do the remodel, it should do that quite well.

I do have a Boston accent though, so a little fine tuning and I may be able to pass for a genuine mainiac!

May want to get some cheap throw rugs and seat covers. Working on projects can really bring in some grime. Reselling it will be easier if it is as nice as it is now. I wish you the best with your projects.

Well after a long day of back and forth getting paperwork signed, then re-signed, then corrected a 3rd time for RMV, we got the trailer registered and towed it to our place in Mass.  Will tow it up to Maine on Friday and officially be living on my own property while I commence repairs to our house there.  Bought this house four years ago then got sick.....to be finally at the point we are able to work on it and move our lives forward again is surreal!  Towed real nice too, which is always a bonus.

I like it !
Have you named your campground yet?
Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh

Looks excellent! Nice to read things are going well.

Looks nice, sometimes I wonder if I should have gone that route but this cabin gives me more room. Sounds like even with the curveballs, you're still keeping your eye on the end result :)

I think you did it right with the small cabin conversion.  I'd actually like to copy that that idea myself one day. Cabin is looking great by the way.

I think you need some throw rugs for that black and white bathroom, a nice contrasting color like this one .
That oughta get your eyes open in the mornings.  When does Camo get to come home?  I've been looking at T.T.s for months that the Ranger can tow, little bitty ones because I don't want to drag large trailers around anymore since I'm not being paid for it   :)   Your new one looks 50ft long compared to the ones I'm looking at.  I hope you have a good shake down cruise up to Maine.     Jewellann

Looks like a great find! I think many of us have a few setbacks as we try to move forward. I just see it as a voice saying "Well, just how bad do you want it anyway?" The great thing is that once you grab the "prize" all the struggle to get there is forgotten.

Post up when ya get here !
I'll slide mom in the Saturn and meet ya at the Clam Shack ........

sweet TT ERLH, Like TxJaybird, my bitty Ranger would never pull it, 4000 lb tow cap gets eaten up quick as the size goes up

Sounds like a plan to me! I'll let you know when i'm rolling into town.  Planning on Friday or Saturday but Sunday wouldn't surprise me either!  Keep you posted.

ERLH, that looks like a beauty but the great news is that you are outpacing your expectations on your recovery. Wishing you more of the same surprises. I have a friend that went through a similar experience and is doing fine now.

Guy

Thanks Guy,
In just the last few weeks I've really took a leap forward recovery wise.  Been taking full advantage of the extra energy and strength too.  Spent a few hours today cleaning the inside of the trailer real good, tomorrow i'll do the outside and grease the bearings, check tire pressure, get her ready for her 100 mile trip North.  Always nice to start with a clean slate.  Then I can mess it up with my own mess!

I'll have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that everything keeps improving for you!

FYI....Heavy to Severe storms likely Friday night thru Saturday morning........check for updates !
