Hi everyone!

What a great place this is ......I'm a long time nomad in Alaska....

Great to find this community.....!!

Cool! Bob started his nomadic life in Alaska too.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard !
If you have a rig we sure do like picture tours ......

Welcome to the CRVL   :)

Are you planning on staying in Alaska or traveling into the lower 48?    With summer arriving in Alaska I couldn't blame you for spending the rest of this summer there.

Welcome. On my way to Alaska right now to visit son and family.

Thats a good question....I will stay in Alaska thru the summer at least.
Considering the beet harvest in late September.
Perhaps 3 more winters in Alaska then I am out of here at least for the winters.

Summer in Alaska is a great place to get nomad type work as there are plenty of tourism related jobs. Some even offer a room.  A person, if they focus can make $10,000 or more per summer.
Until I reach Social Security age, I will tough it out.  Winters are difficult due to the long dark nights.

We will see.

I really love this community....great to be among like minded folks...

Excellent! Great time of year to be in Alaska....

Just visiting or are you going to stay for  a bit?

Alaska sounds like a great place to have a well heated & equipped work shop and some hobbies for the winter.   Live like the Scandinavians and build Cuckoo Clocks all winter and sell them to the Tourist all summer.  LOL

I'm just joking around here,  but  winter time would be a great project time there like for boat building or whatever you'd be into doing.  Since you may have 3 more years to go.

Hello and welcome from the Great Lakes State. May I ask what SUV you are using? Maybe even pics of your set up? I only ask because an SUV is the route I plan on taking.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Northernlight! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Pics are great!

Alaska is on my to-do list!

Welcome. I just joined myself recently. Lots of good info on here. I lived up there for 47 years. Great place to grow up and live when your young but the winters got longer and colder when I retired.

Hi  currently a 1999 Chevy Tracker 4 X 4....kinda tight but it will work for now...

Ill post some photos soon but nothing fancy about my rig.  I took the front seat out and the 2 back seats. I lay a piece of plywood on the passenger side,  put a REI pad on it.  Sleeping bag and pillows and I am good.

I need to tint the windows and get some type of curtains and Ill be set.

Yes, the winters are getting to me too.  Need 3 more winters and I am gone.  Did a 360 on the Seward highway last winter and came away without much damage.  Got lucky but no more!

Hope I can make 3 more winters...

Simple is a plus in my book. I just picked up Jeep Cherokee XJ. I will do a small conversion thread soon.
