My husband and I live in Ca. We are an hours drive from each of the following places: Palm Springs, Lake Arrowhead and the beach.  I am very new to forums, so I have to find my way around.

Being from So Ca and traveling far from that area to camp I can't imagine it's possible to do much boondocking anywhere within 200 miles of LA. There is such a mass of population and abundance of "bad actors" that it elicits a reaction from landowners, land management authorities and local populations that anything beyond short stays in fee areas is quickly suppressed. The foothill areas, freeway underpasses and greenery are already fully populated with tents and every place a vehicle can be parked is occupied very night by vehicle dwellers. Signs are going up as fast as the prison slave laborers can produce them forbidding overnight parking. Walmarts are almost all forbidding overnight parking. Private security services are booming from all the guards being hired to shoo overstayers (non-customers) from parking lots and streetsides.

Welcome! I'm new here too. Don't know anything about CA, I'm on the opposite coast, but I wanted to say hi.
