Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bob & I live in Las Vegas, NV. I've lived here almost 27 years and I've suddenly realized that it's time for a change.

I've been a "lurker" on the "CheapRVliving" website for a few years now. Now I suddenly know why. I secretly wish I could just live a less stressful life from my jobs I've had here in Las Vegas. I've come to be almost "burnt out" twice in the last 27 years. It's not a very nice thought going to a job you get no pleasure out of if you stay there too long.

After reading so many stories of traveling, workamping, etc. it's time to hit road. It will most likely be in a year or so but I'm already into planning what my van will have for some basic setup. Most of the knowledge came from this forum. Thank you for that!

I'll be leaving the "structured" life sometime next year. Once I have my van & set it up the way I'd like it, I'll be putting some money aside for the initial adventure to begin. That will be the easy part.

The hard part will be telling my 78 year old Mom who lives here in Vegas that I'll be leaving Las Vegas and living in a van. She's VERY old fashioned in her thinking. Hopefully she'll understand. If not, well...we'll see!

P.S. My nickname, "Pikachu711" & the image is my 10 pound black cat named Pikachu.

Hello and welcome!

Your mom will come around eventually. It may take her a while but when she sees that it make you happy, her opinion may change.

Dad is telling me (and others) that he does not understand why I prefer to live outside in the van (in his driveway). It still gives a person a feeling of independence which is necessary. Also, it is YOUR environment. In my case, it helps with the allergy issue (Dad's house is a nightmare in that regard...)

Give your mother time and she will likely come around. I am sure she wants you to be happy.

V.T.
