cool. i love those things.

but where the heck are people buying their solar from? 12k for 1k watts? way overpriced.

think the cost for solar included the batteries and bypass for street power and everything. yes it cost way too much at $12,000 but if they know nothing about electric power they end up with a costly solution.

they stated they need $30 a month in winter for electric, plus $300 rent for the camping space. plus the cost of building the house. so about $4000 a year. and they own the little house worth $20,000 in equity. they are lucky to find anyone with a zoned camping area, as towns hate this (no tax base).

*****

as comparison my son rents a small apartment shared with room mate. each own bed room. they pay $800 month rent. are fifteen minutes from dead center of charleston, sc. electric is $100 monthly. so lets say $12000 a year and he has nothing.

camp sites nearby are $750 monthly in the good campground. so $9000 a year.

buy a van for $5000. get a very large great quality cabin tent and tent-wood-stove for $1000. attach an external table and cowling for a window HVAC unit for $200 for hot areas of the country.

very getto redneck hillbilly, but you own everything. in bad weather (high wind, extreme cold) you batten down the hatches and get in the van.
