Hi, Everyone! I'm Susan from Missouri. I've been lurking in this forum for about a year and finally worked up the courage to introduce myself. I'm planning on living out of my Honda Fit with my two cats while I travel the States. If all goes as planned I will be heading out around early fall. I'm very excited, but also a little scared as this is far out of my comfort zone. But reading all the great advice and seeing everyone's stories of their own personal experiences here makes me feel like I'm making the right decision. I don't know if I'll post very often as I'm very shy (even in the anonymous world of the internet), but I wanted to thank everyone here for taking the time to share their knowledge. I have learned so much from all of you and can't wait to put all this information into use!

Hi Susan, Welcome!

I spent some time at Osage Beach, MO. What a beautiful place...

Please don't be shy on the forum, we all love to hear about others' travels and opinions. I find this particular group to be much more open minded and accepting that most. No judging or trolling going on here.

Good luck and keep us posted!

-Noah

Hello and welcome Suzanne.

Congrats on building the courage to introduce yourself. Your plans are great. I bet you've been working towards them for quite a while. Good for you. I know what you mean about drawing courage from this forum, great isn't it to have found a bunch of cool like minded people.

I hope time doesn't drag on too slowly until the fall.

Cheers,

Nicole

High Sue...

Here's a thread that may be of interest (if you haven't seen it already)(then again, it's prolly totally useless)...

https://vanlivingforum.com/post/Honda-Fit-question-5648436

Also, have you seen the chick on the youtube with her Honda Fit? I put a link up here on this site...

Oh, btw... I drove a new Honda Fit last week & it is (in my opinion) the best car in it's price class, hands down. You likely will not have any serious mechanical issues with yours!

The steering is total point-and-shoot, suspension is smooth, power from the motor is matched & mated perfectly with the transmission. Seats are really comfy!

Did I mention ROOM GALORE ?

If possible, try to get an aftermarket sunroof. Then shove a couple Fantastic fans up there, with window screens, so the kittehs don't get out.

Also, the battery is small in dimensions (about a lawnmower battery). You might want to find some dude that'll hook up a larger one, for a second battery, and possibly higher-amp alternator (for charging/recharging extra battery).

Don't be scared; use yer' noggin when stealthing. If it doesn't seem/feel right, then get out & find somewhere else to rest.

Good luck; we're all pullin' for ya'!

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome!

bobbert, thanks for all the advice! I had seen the Honda Fit thread on here and the video, those actually helped me make my decision to keep my Fit! I bought it new in 2007 and paid it off last year. When I decided I wanted to live full time on the road, I first considered selling my car and purchasing a used Class C or Class B RV, or a van. But I couldn't bear the thought of parting with my beloved Fit! So I was ecstatic to discover the thread on here and see someone else was actually doing it!

I hadn't thought about getting a second battery, but I will have my laptop with me (although I hope to not use it much), so that would be a good idea. Thanks again!

Welcome Sue,

I'm fairly new to the forum, and just introduced myself about a week ago. I'm somewhat shy myself (an introvert). But you probably wouldn't be able to tell this from my writing, I tend to write more than I would ever speak in public.

Anyway, I hope you find it within your comfort zone to ask as many questions as you need, and participate by sharing your thoughts and offering your two cents when needed...... this place and all of the folks here, seem to me (a newbie) to be, very helpful and non-judgmental.

Good Luck on your up-coming endeavor - I'll be looking forward to reading your posts!
