Hello, new friends! I am brand new to tiny living. I just moved into my very small camper a few weeks ago. I am not traveling, yet, as I am in school finishing my BA degree. I bought the camper to save money on rent while studying. I plan to go full time after I graduate and I am hoping to find a job I can do from anywhere. I’ve been following Bob’s YouTube channel for a while now and I appreciate the content and the community that he has built. Looking forward to this crazy nomad life!

Welcome aimes to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Aimes2019, WELCOME!

What kind of rig do you have? Have you had any problems finding places to park? Where are you hoping to go first when you're able to travel?
And of course Bob's classic questions: how do you use the bathroom & how do you shower? lol

Welcome to CRVL aimes2019,

MeiraNomadRN asked some good questions, it always nice to see how others are making it all work.

I recently worked at a community collage and met several students in different mobile living situations. A collage offers so meany facilities for there students. It makes a good choice for inexpensive living. I wish the collages and their surrounding communities would be more open minded and understanding.

Good luck with your studies and look forward to you joining all of us crazy nomads in this crazy life

I have a 1964 Pennant camper, but the title lists it as homemade. It’s had a lot of renovations by the previous owner. It’s a very tiny 6x8, but it’s just me in it, so it’s doable. I’m planning to renovate it some more because I want a kitchen and it doesn’t have one. I am currently paying for a parking spot in someone’s yard, so I don’t have to worry about hunting all the time. Thank God, because there’s nothing in my area. The RV parks are crazy expensive and won’t allow any rigs older than 10yo, and there are no long term campgrounds anywhere. As for Bob’s favorite questions, I have a bucket toilet that I put pine chips I get from the pet store in, and I shower at my school’s Rec Center. It works out pretty well. I only use the bucket toilet when absolutely necessary (usually only at night) and try to use public restrooms whenever possible. I’m out all day anyway, so it works.

Oh, and for travel plans, I want to see the PNW. I have wanted to go to Washington and Oregon, especially the coast, for a long time now (I LOVE the rain and clouds and pretty much any time it looks like a Tim Burton movie at 2pm!) I also want to see the desert SW and the Great Lakes region. Pretty much, I want to go everywhere, lol, but I have been to every state on the East Coast already, so I’d like to head west first. I do have some bucket list items back east. I’m an English major and I really want to visit some literary destinations like Walden Pond and such. Thoreau is my spirit animal, lol.

Yeah that’s the one! Except they did a nice paint job to sell it, lol. Mine isn’t that pretty. Eventually I’ll paint it so it looks cute and vintage instead of just old.

I need to find a paint for me, I like the idea of looking cute and vintage but I'm afraid I'm gonna be stuck with just old, LOL

Take your time and do a good job if you can. Restoring old stuff can be very rewarding, especially when it's still useful.  Good luck  :)
