I'm a solo woman part-timer (sometimes I've got a travel partner). I've been watching Bob's videos for several months trying to learn what I can about living frugally on the road. I appreciate everyone who has participated in his videos as they have been very helpful. I'm heading out for short trips here and there - shooting for one week a month - with the intent of being out for longer periods of time soon. National Parks & Monuments are favorite destinations of mine. I'm looking to head from Bolinas, Ca up North (as far up as the US/Canada boarder) in the next few weeks, so any suggestions on where to visit and boondock would be welcome! I hope to catch up to y'all at the RTR in January and to find 'my people' somewhere out there on the road soon!

Welcome to the CRVL forums SaadowGurl! As long as you stay away from the coast you should have no trouble finding nice boondocking spots. Start with freecampsites to get some ideas - https://freecampsites.net/

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the CRLV Forums   :)

Quite admirable to start out on some practice runs around where you live and get some safe experience the way you're going about it.   That will pay off later.   So keep yourself a note book on these "shake down" excursions
and record your thoughts on things you brought that you don't really need,  what you wish you had brought,
and a few nice things you may see others with that you'd like to have some day.    Take yourself plenty of photos too.

You can learn a lot by observation and taking a quick snapshots or making a sketch in your notebook for later reference.  In time you'll meet others in campgrounds you can show your notes and learn from each other.  Then when the day comes to go for the long journey you'll be prepared better for it.

All the best !

Hi Saadowgorl,
Welcome. I'm in a similar situation, single woman going on short to longish excursions until I go full time early 2018. I too plan on going to the RTR. See you there.
Have fun on your trips!
