Hello...I would like to introduce myself.

<P>&nbsp;</P>&nbsp;Hello,<BR><br><IMG border=0 align=absMiddle src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/wave.gif"><br>&nbsp;I joined this forum last night 2-8-11 after I think looking at it and other RV living pages off and on yesterday.....This interests me greatly. I would like to do some RVing.<BR><BR>So here goes about me:<BR><IMG border=0 align=absMiddle src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/comp.gif"><BR>I am Marsha from Kentucky. I am saying I am 54 (very quietly) LOL but, a young at heart 54. I am a widow and retired Dec. 2010. I have raised my children and they are on there own. I have 2 wonderful grandsons. ages 11 and 6yrs. I live on a farm. So, I have ruffed it in my day! I am a Lic. Cosmetologist in the state of Ky. And spent the last 8 years as a property manager for a property management company here in Ky. Did I say I was bored? Well I will now...I am bored! Seems as if all my reasons for getting up of the morning are gone. Depressed you ask? NOT one bit....I play the hand that I have been dealt. NOT into pity party's either. I am a survivor. I can always figure out a solution to anything and if I see it is not going to work out I am quick on my feet and with my wit to come up with a plan b or c or d if necessary. <BR><BR>OK I think that is enough other than{{{{{{Drum Roll}}}}}} I am thinking <IMG border=0 align=absMiddle src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/idea.gif">&nbsp;of becoming an RVer. <BR><BR>There I have said it! Been looking to start with RV'S,Travel Trailers and some vans. So, how is it out there? Any tips? &nbsp;Welcome - it's wonderful out here!<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; Tips and suggestions - buy used but get somebody who knows what they're doing to check it all out for you , the mechanics&nbsp; and the house part. Think about what type of&nbsp; traveling you want to do and look at RVs that will suit your style. Small if you plan on short stops and boondocking , larger and maybe a trailer if you want to stay put and just hang out at a campground. Go to a big dealer or RV show and check out the different types and sizes. Go through the motions of living and see which ones work the best. Don't be awed by the glitz. Look for a solid structure. You can always paint and recover anything on the inside or outside.<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; <br><br>

What about others what do you do?<br>So, a used RV small type may suit better but, then again may not. What do boobnockers do that pull trailers? So glad to see someone from this side of the Mississippi here.&nbsp; Welcome,&nbsp; on RV types, I have a class A and sometimes wish for a travel trailer.&nbsp; Had to buy a car yesterday so I have a way to do other than travel.&nbsp; Ed in Alabama<br>

Hi Marsha, welcome. I have a van that is easily set up as a camper, a small old travel trailer that I can leave behind if I need to and just lock the door, and I have a large backpack for when I don't want doors, van, camper or anything else. If I can't carry it, it doesn't go! All depends on what kind of experience I want to enjoy.

Welcome Marsha. I'm new here as well but old hat camping, alone or with a man and children and horses.&nbsp; I will be doing some shake down&nbsp;cruises this summer. <P><FONT size=3>Mouldy and Ed, and anyone else,&nbsp;You are quite welcome to visit my little farm. You can stealth in my back yard and enjoy the miles of hiking trails right across the street at Sycamore Park in Trotwood Ohio.&nbsp; I will be home most of the summer to close things down here and prepare for my winter art circut. One of my kids will live here next winter if all goes as planned.&nbsp;&nbsp; Maybe I will get a caravan or meeting place together in KY or Hocking Hills area of Ohio. Hi Marsha-<br><br>Your post really interests me because I too am just beginning my rv search and have had a devil of a time trying to narrow down between motorhome types, as in Class A? Or Class B? Or Class C? The sheer number of brands, styles and floorplans is mindboggling!! I'm interested in HOW you are going about deciding which way to go. My impression so far is a big Class A is just too, well...BIG. A 19 foot van is just too small to live in for me (oh and I'm 6'2" which doesn't help) ...a Class C is getting close but lacks extreme MOBILITY....STEALTH...so I'm heading in the direction of a Class B, but one that's about 22 to 24 feet...sofabed, all appliances, some kind of toilet/bathroom however small, generator etc. Also thinking as others have mentioned, something from the 1980's or early 90's can be had for less than $6500...wondering what your thought process is as far as what the heck to go with?? It's harder than I thought!! I need to actually meetup with some folks who have various rigs to compare and LEARN...but being here in Southside Virginia is a demerit since most of these fine folks are rubbertramping all around BLM Lands in Arizona or Utah/Washington/New Mexico etc.&nbsp; Good luck !!!<br><br>
