Hi Everyone, 

I'm not out there full-time yet. But I'm exploring my options to be able to do so within the next few years.

In the mean time I am dying to meet some of you and am going to try and be out there at least part time in my station wagon with a tent and desire to get closer to nature again as well as make some new friends.

Hopefully some of you want to make a new friend too.   :shy:

Welcome, BeFree58! Where will you be part timing? I am in the process of building out my van and I have to work for atleast another year before I can go full time, so I have been taking weekend trips and learning about the van, what I still need, where things should go, etc.! It's been great fun!

Yes, just week end camping out of your Station Wagon can be a great start.   When I was a kid
my Dad got a small utility trailer and had a hitch put on the back of the Station Wagon to tow the
small trailer with.  We rigged a canvas tarp atop the trailer to keep everything weather proof. 

We got a Tent, Coleman Stove,  and found milk crates in different colors to put stuff in.  Different colors
indicated different types of stuff.  All of this went neatly into the trailer.  If it was bad rainy & windy weather
we could sleep in the back of the station wagon and not even use the tent.  I think our little trailer was a
4 X 8  and the walls were 4 ft tall.   Dad got a piece of pipe to run end to end of the trailer to hold the
tarp up so water would run off if it rained. 

Didn't have much money invested in it but got loads of enjoyment with it.  Didn't have to do much modification to the Station Wagon at all.  All of our Camping/Travel stuff was neatly contained and ready to go just backing up to the little trailer and hitching up. (plug in the lights & signals cord and go)

We painted ours to match the color of the Station Wagon.  Our Tarp was Green and held on with with "bungee cords".  We could travel 30 miles to 100 without ever a problem.

When you do take the leap I will be so jealous LOL!! And wishing you the very best as you start the good life.

I'm still looking for the right rig and using the next couple of years to settle family needs before I'm fully free to roam.f

I can't wait to get out there and hope to at least go part time to meet people. 

If you're in the Washington or Northern Oregon area this summer give me a heads-up.

Thank you for this great welcome. 

I have used my "one woman camper" i.e. station wagon to road trip to see friends in and done some Walmart camping. It's darn comfy and keeps me dry and safe. 

When I get to go full-time in a few years I want to get a van to have a bit more head room and then I'll be on my way! 

If you're in Washington or Northern Oregon let me know so I can see if I can get out there during that time to make a new friend.  :shy:

Thank you for the welcome - it's so great to know there are other ladies out there I can make friends with.

I'm in eastern Washington state and can get anywhere in the Cascades of Washington and Northern Oregon easily on my days off.

I'm still working full-time to help out my Mom and sister right now. It will be awhile before I can get out there full time too. Right now I can do weekends (mine are Monday and Tuesdays) in my "one woman camper" i.e. station wagon.

The van idea is where I'm going as well. No hitch to try to master and nothing to big so I can handle it. But with a bit more head room than my trusty station wagon.

Will you be anywhere in my neighborhood while you are part-timing?

Thank you for the welcome. 

You're so right - in my head and heart I am "living" the tribe and being out there. If I can only do it part-time to begin then so be it. 

I have had some short (week or two) summer road trips in my "one woman camper" aka Bluebell, my blue station wagon.

During those times I've stayed at Walmart if going inland and at coastal casinos if I'm at the beach. Huge parking lots with lots of cars so I blend in and at some free weekend spots overlooking the Pacific ocean. I love the freedom!!
