Hello everyone,
So I have been researching car dwelling, van dwelling, RV dwelling, tiny houses, etc. for many many years now. I've loved the idea of going small (RV, Tiny House, etc.) so much, but even those were pretty expensive for me because I have some medical issues, so I pay a lot for health insurance each year.

I am in my early 30's, and I want to get out of Minnesota and far far away from the snow. My goal is to head down to Florida just because I love the beaches, the warm weather, the lakes, etc. I am concerned about the laws against homelessness, but I am thinking if I am careful, I should be okay.

Right now I have an '05 Chevy Malibu Maxx that I am going to stay in. It's not huge, but it is a hatchback, so I am hoping that it will give me through a year so I can save up enough for a cargo van or a down payment on an RV. I haven't seen anyone live in a Malibu Maxx yet, unfortunately, so if you know of anyone who has, I would love to see some ideas they have about making it work.

I look forward to exploring the forums and learning from all of you.

Welcome to the CRVL forums SunsetRain! Does the Malibu Maxx's back seats lay flat for a bed? Having a good bed is so important.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi, Welcome to the forum.  Sorry to hear you are having health issues.  I'm in my 30's as well and having some health issues myself so I can def relate.

There are quite a few members that live in their Prius's and they are similar in size to your car so I think you could learn a lot from them.  Here is a video of one of them that Bob and James did of a person living in their Prius.

And here is a blog post about Prius living

Good luck and keep us informed of how your transition goes.

Yes, the seats fold forward, and there is a space to sleep.  It is tilted (not totally flat,) but I think that if I order a "Milliard 6-Inch Memory Foam Tri-fold Mattress with Ultra Soft Removable Cover with Non-Slip Bottom - Twin" from amazon, I should be able to make it work!

This is what the back looks like at an angle.

Welcome aboard the forums , there are lots of people doing what you are planning so (health issues aside) you should have no problems doing it too !

Anti homeless laws make me wish lawmakers had to live a year in the homeless' shoes !!!!

Besides you're not homeless , you just choose to live in your "car home" aka "I'm just camping out officer !"
