Hi! I'm from Texas and am about to sell everything I own and hit the road. Honestly Bob is about the only youtuber that seems legit and his knowledge is going a long way to help me start out. I'm kinda scared but more excited to stop working 100 hours a week just to stay poor.

Welcome 8legs to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum 8 legs. You’ll find a lot of kindred spirits here. A place to express your excitement and confess your fears and find the help to let the excitement overcome the fear. There’s also a lot of fun to be had here. There are a lot more people lurking in the shadows of this forum than posting actively on it so you can Participate as much or as a little as you want here. Do you have a vehicle to start out with or are you still looking? You’ll have lots of help with building it if you’re not done. The options on what to do and how to do it and where to go or limitless sometimes that becomes confusing but if you do it right you can make it very enjoyable. God bless the nomads every one

I have an old scamp trailer and an old dodge van. I'm still trying to weigh the pros and cons of vanlife vs mini rv life

Welcome to the CRVL Forum  :)

Why not use both ?  I dion't know if your Van is a cargo van or a passenger van with windows and seating...or not.  But it could have a simple bed mounted across the rear wheel wells with a plywood floor and some kind of covering on it.  That way if you stay in State  or National Parks you could go do some sight seeing trips or overnight trips before returning to the Scamp.  While you are out you could pick up some supplies in the Van on the way back.

You could mount one or two of these fresh water tanks under your Van and have plenty of water if you were boon docking.  With ladder racks on the roof of the Van there would be plenty of room for Solar Panels.   You could really become self sufficient and have room and mobility.

I'd invite you to visit the links below for some ideas.  The bottom link is a portal of handy information to make your travels safer, more comfortable, and convenient.

Glad to see yur fixin to go on the road.   Like the song said,  "All our life we scrimp and save building for a shallow grave".  ( from the Doors,  Soft Parade)

As for cheap water tanks check these out:
