Been wanting to do this for a long time now and things are finally starting to line up to make it possible! I'm in the process of converting my Ford Explorer into a mobile home. Looking forward to meeting new people on this journey

Welcome Kevin to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hello Kevin
Welcome to CRVL

I'm new to the forum myself. Illinois caught my attention, I'm planning a trip that way in a few weeks. it will be my first long trip with my new TTT.
Keep us informed on your Explorer converting, and good luck

Thanks both of you! Buster you're wise for visiting state of Illinois before it gets cold LOL. I'm currently researching a Chinese diesel heater for just that reason. I'm finding there's a lot more usable room in an explorer than most people think.

A diesel heater inside the car??

Sorry I had to look these up. Cool stuff! Let us know which one you pick and how it works out.

My trailer is tiny and a lot better insulated then you could ever get a car. I'm counting on body heat from me and my dog, or at least that's what I got so far. 50s F is the coldest I've been out in so far it was too warm with the vet fan off.

Yeah this last winter we had a week of -10 with wind chills diving below -40. Safe dry heat is a must!!

My home is on wheels, anything below zero and I'm out of there
I have been ok in a tent down to 30F and I know this trailer will be much better, but -10 and I will be rolling south in a hurry
