Hi all, my name is Scott. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to wonder. When I was 18, I planned to fill a backpack and just start walking to see where the wind took me. 18 years later, I sit in an office, married with no kids and still feel the wonderlust.

I dream of the open road, seeing the wonders of of the US. I hope one day, I can answer the call that has haunted me for so long....

Welcome to the CRVL forums, Rivmage! I hope your partner shares your dream and it's not long before you make it happen. Now, is a good time to start. Get a vehicle and do weekends and vacations on the road exploring. Start down sizing and getting rid of stuff. It took many of us many years to get out on the road. But, it doesn't have to!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Part of the problem with leaving is the health of my mother in law. She currently lives with us. Around Thanksgiving of '13 she was diagnosed with cancer, she went through treatment most of last year and they believe the cancer is active again and she will need to start treatment again.

Part of the plan for this summer is to start doing weekend getaways.

Welcome to the forums!

Please remember that respite care benefits both the elderly and the caretakers. Don't be afraid to take advantage of it when and where it's available.

welcome here, it is a great place for sharing in the dream and planning your own! Peaceful evening!

Rivmage, I know exactly how you feel, I was the same way in my youth and I ended up trapped just like you are. It's insidious how civilzation captures us and makes us its slaves.

Even though you can't make your dream come true today, you can make today happier and more fullfilling by taking steps toward your dreams. At the minimum you can start selling and getting rid of things and get yourself equipped to go camping. That way you'll e happier no matter how long it takes to get to your dreams.

We wish you all the best!
Bob
