Can you keep the engine block warm with a charged deep cycle battery ?

No.

There are fuel fired heaters. Some run on propane, some on diesel fuel itself. Some can be set up to keep the cab warm as well as the engine block.

Espar is probably the best known brand.

Everybody who flies in the winter in Alaska has a heater to pre-warm the engine or it will not start. The most populat is the little Coleman catalytic. They also buy a cowling blanket to keep the heat in. It's the same principle for your car or truck.

Remember, you will have zero solar in Alaska in the winter and your batteries will be just as cold which means very little battery unless it is inside with you.

So I was wondering If I parked a diesel and a just let it sit all winter until the weather got warm enough to start it would that be ok?
Would having it sit in the cold for all those months do some damage?

Thanks
