Last night was another rainy night in Alabama......I like the rain. Queenie my untrained attack chihuahua was having problems so she stood on me 3 times to let me know it was suit up and let's go stand in the rain....all between 2am and before sunrise.
I managed to sleep thru the "It's your sister and I'm putting the Easter pizza in the oven NOW" phone call. Lunch was at 11:30a I woke up at 12:22p. Things were cool with the family when I called to explain.
My mother, sister and I have usually worked jobs that were not 9 to 5. Speaking for myself holidays were always the day for time and a half , sometimes you have to work them to keep a job. By the time I hit my forties it was Time and a half plus "personal holiday" with pay= double time and a half the way I figured it. There always seems to be something needing replacing or repair or trip/moves to save for.
My question is...... am I the only one that looks at most holidays as "just another day in the week"? Since I returned to AL in 2010 Christmas is the biggie ..........4 generations gathering form 3 states...the drama starts with the menu planning and the time to eat and seems to snow ball from there. Suprisingly last year all was peaceful and quite.
To me what makes a holiday special is the wonder and awe in the younger children..... Maybe that's why we get a second childhood...to recapture feelings we have lost with age.
I hope everyone has a good peaceful day whether this is a holiday you celebrate or not....I like Cinco de Mayo myself! Jewellann and the Queen
