Do any of you campervan people have a grey tank set up?
I'm in a Astro cargo van. Not a lot of space below.
But I do like the idea of having a grey tank so I can do dishes.
I'm also considering a separate tank for going #1 only.
Is this a thing?

I purchased a fish table for my cargo van campouts, it has a sink/drain that can empty into a 5 gal HD bucket with lid adapted to the flex hose.  I can place the bucket in a granny cart before filing it, & when it's full can wheel it into the bushes or to the dump station.  The granny cart is rated for 150 lbs, the bucket neatly & securely into the cart & is low enough to fit the assembly under the table.  I put a screen in the table drain to remove all food particles (they go in the waste bucket), using biodegradable soap that will not harm the flora & fauna, it can be dumped into a pre-dug hole.  Table, cart & bucket cost less than $95 much cheaper than the $150+ grey tanks I looked at on Amazon.  The hose can be set up so you even have a P-trap.  I had to drill a hole in the lid to receive the hose & put a drain spigot near the bottom to drain it, Youtube is an amazing site! Everything folds & stores except the bucket but that fits on the bottom of my HD bucket stack (5).

I use a 2 1/2 gallon jug that originally held cat litter.

If fits nicely in to the cabinet below the sink.

When it gets too gross for comfort, I simply find a cat owner and beg, borrow or steal another container. The opening is plenty wide enough for the 1/2" ID hose that is hooked up to the sink. I get 4 to 5 dish washes in to it, so maybe 6 days before I have to dump it.

This isn't quite true. Bio-soap can also be toxic to aquatic life, so it should not be dumped in or near any open water.

My setup is similar. I use a modified stainless steel mixing bowl as a sink (with drain added). This sits atop a five-gallon bucket, into which it drains. I use it every few days (with waterless cleanups in between). Since I only use a half-gallon of water to wash up with, I never have more than that to dump.

Yeh, it's crude and primitive looking. But it holds water while I am washing up, and it drains afterwards--and that's all it needs to do.

:)

PS--this is a great idea that I had not thought of. I may have to steal it.  ;)

Ever hear of the miracle of baking soda & white vinegar?
