Kinda sorta new guy here. Looking at vans on e-bay and craigs list. I've long ago had it with exorbitant rents, taxes, etc. I was fortunate to get debt-free a few years ago, but with escalating living expenses keeping me on the slow-track, I decided to finally take the plunge and dive into van life. My family thinks I'm crazy. Well, that's nothing new. Fortunately I've lived most of my life on the road, either as a trucker, or just moving from place to place. Closer than ever to "minimalist" living, it's getting more attractive with each passing day. And closer to retirement as well. Short term plan is to locate and acquire a van and begin outfitting it between now and July, when my present lease expires, keep the job as long as I can, then retire to the road. Even though I rent a room in an upscale McMansion neighborhood, I occasionally just park and sleep in my Jeep pickup, just because I don't like where I live. Homeless? No. Houseless!!!! Big difference. Anyway, it would be nice to hear from other singles in my age bracket (50s - 60s). Besides, these life-changing decisions tend to affect current friendships.<br>
