Hi guys! I'm here in beautiful, balmy Minnesota. Just kidding. It's a whole 10 degrees out right now and they say it will get to -2. Why do I live here again? I am currently busting my butt to get my house ready to put on the market and then straight into my 5er with my husband, 12 year old, 2 dogs and cat. I've spent a lot of time reading posts and advice here while being envious of the lifestyle and after a few years of coaxing my hubby, I finally have a shot at it!

Congrats and good luck to you folks. Come west and enjoy some 80 degree weather :)

Would LOVE to. My daughter needs to finish 7th grade first. Once school is out, we are outta here! Wondering if anybody has advice for living in our 5er in winter. If the house sells before school is out, we will be moving into a mobile home park that allows RVs year round. The RV show is this weekend. I'll be looking into skirting to keep cold air from under us. What else should I look into? What works for you guys? What do you use? Our place is 43 feet long and we have a propane furnace and an electric fireplace.

Welcome to the CRVL forums, raygun!  Brrr... I hope you have good luck selling your house so that this is the last winter you have to spend in the cold.

You might want to look into an extend - a - stay kit for your propane system and then buy or rent a larger propane bottle for use while parked for extended periods of time.  I lived in a fiver for ten years and I purchased a 100 lb  propane bottle to use.  I could run close to a month on it during the winter and would run on it until it ran out, then use the coach bottles to run on until I could get the larger bottle filled. Having a regulator that would automatically switch from an empty tank to a full tank was really nice also.
