I made a rig like that a couple years ago. Used an old power washer with a seized water pump and a gm 10si alternator. Everything was junk laying around the shop except for the engine pulley and the turn buckle to tension the belt. It has to have the battery to excite the regulator once it starts (Jack Daniel's and well endowed women work for me). It's an older style alternator so it only puts out 65-70 amps. I use it for starting my lawn art, easier than getting the truck nearby or running cords for the booster. Don
