Yes although the trailer will have a a 4 pin.  Still not clear on how I'm connecting the battery to the 12v on the pin connector but I guess I'll figure it out...or make everything go up in a blaze of glory.   :D

I'd consider asking the trailer build guy to upgrade you to a 6 or 7 pin plug and some trailer brakes on one axle. A four pin plug does not have brakes and with your home and all your belongings being the trailer/car you are going to want some brakes for safety. Your vehicle is easy to upgrade too and make sure you have an brake controller installed if it doesn't already have one.

I wholeheartedly agree with adding a brake system to your rig. It's a small price to pay for the added safety.

I believe if I was going to charge a bank of house batteries from the alternator of my tow vehicle I'd also put a battery isolator just a little downstream from the alternator. It eliminates drawing voltage from your starter battery when using your house batteries. So, if you happen to kill your house batteries you can still start your vehicle.

I'm pretty low maintenance. Happy to air dry my hair or dry it using a low amp 12v fan. :)

Could even try a handheld personal size fan on "high" as a hair dryer.

The answer for long term boondocking is both. In the event you have to chose I would say a generator because using it will show you how much power you use and how much solar you need. Then again the Sportsman 800/1000 inverter generator was under $200 on sale and a 160 watt portable solar kit is $179 at SolarBlvd.

I looked at the 160w kit, looks like a deal to me.

Solar is magic....
I moved it from my full sized van & put it on my mini-van  http://observations-on-the-road.blogspot.com/2016/09/solar-on-mini-van.html .
