The National Park Service is issuing free annual passes for active military and veterans. I got mine with my VA card at my local national park (Catahoochee River, GA). The ranger behind the counter said she believes the offer will be sweetened by making them free lifetime passes, but I recommend all military to take advantage of free annual passes ?? ?

I got a life time pass because I am a disabled vet. At the time I had to pay $10 for processing but it is still worth it! I wish they would come up with one for the state parks too. I am planning a trip to WY and each start part or historic site costs $12 to get into. I thought about just buying an annual permit but it is $96 for non-residents.....twice the annual fee of a resident. That is crazy and just wrong!
