I was getting to the point where I thought it was just never going to happen.  But, I brought her home, today!   Meet Theo (short for Theodora aka THE ONE) <DIV _yuid="yui_3_1_1_2_131620711765675"><IMG alt="image 0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3n33m83pd5Q55T65R1b9c27c5308db868169a.jpg" _yuid="yui_3_1_1_2_131620711765677"></DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>This is the first vehicle I have looked at that I didn't have inspected by an RV Tech.  I just couldn't make the arrangements to get one to where she was located and she was pretty far out of civilization so there wasn't one close enough to drive to.  I usually take a knowledgeable person with me to approve any purchase but none of my buddies were available, either.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>That said, she drove the 100 miles home, over the mountains like a champ.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>She's a well-maintained 1988 Jayco. E350 with a 460 engine. Two brandee new batteries, 6 brandee new Goodyear tires and a brandee new awning. Normal wear inside, nothing broken, nothing that looks abused or neglected and clean as a whistle</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>The guy who sold her, bought her only 7 months ago and was planning on full-timing.  He had spent the last 7 months making improvements in preparation for his life on the road.  Then his dad got sick and the dream was put on hold.    </DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>I've been searching for her since 2005.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Funny, I have spent so much time, over the years, perusing classifieds. It's like a habit.  The first thing i do when I boot up the 'puter is head to craigslist, ebay and other sites. I am sooooooooooo excited to have ended the search!!!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! </DIV>

Good for you, Cyndi.  It's good that he did all the work for you... That's the best way to buy vehicles.  Did he supply receipts of parts, so you know what doesn't have to be done i.e. brake condition, oil/trans/axle fluid changes etc...?

Thanks, everyone!  I am soooooooo excited!  I've been doing a happy dance for a couple of days.  My creaky ol' knees are not near as excited as the rest of me!  I'll definitely see you at the RT (and beyond!) Mr. Putz, We're still going head to head in a chili cook off, right? Bri, I'm out there, now, as I type planning and plotting.. Suanne, I can't wait!!!  Are you brining the egg or the prius? Aww BlkJak! Thanks!  I love it.  I may have a request for a slight change with a better pic! Diane, I'm counting on it! AJ, No matter what the seller told me he did or didn't do, Theo's first trip will be to my mechanic's for a thorough once over, all basic maintenance, new hoses and belts so I have everything documented and my anal retentive self knows EXACTLY what was done, when. Ed, Thanks! I hope your plan is moving forward, too! Blars, Congratulations! I'm hoping January and the RTR will be the beginning of my full-timing life.  But, that depends on many things. Thanks, Bob.  It's still going to be awhile before we leave port for the open road.  I'm thinking I'll be catching up with you in the spring (that's a warning!)!

I'm sooo happy for you cyndi...tho I'm relatively new on this site I know you've been one like me who's been studying and looking and it seems IT just never happens...but now you've got your baby...I just haven't been able to travel even a couple hours due to my fragile dog ... some already hassling me and don't understand the devotion 12 years as my best friend engenders but I'm not giving up either and I too watch Craigslist and RV Trader like a hawk...my day will come too I hope....but at 650 am first thing firing up the computer I see your post and sometimes LIFE IS GOOD!!! Dust

AJ, I was soooooooooo frazzled making the purchase without advice.  I am not anal about much, but when it comes to my vehicle I'm afraid I go to the extreme...   Tony and Karen, Thanks!  The vehicles on the blog don't even come close to my reality in RV shopping.  It got so it bad, it was hard to even look.   Dust!  Fair warning... You're in my path of travel.  Look for me in the spring! I really respect that you're making your dog's well being the priority.  When the time's right, you have some good kharma coming your way!   She, Thanks! Pics coming in the near future.  I have to say I am not loving the floor plan and I expect so renovations in the future; not for awhile, though!

Cyndi ... So what is the floor plan like?  I remember you wanted a bed in the back.  Can't wait to see pic of it now and as you make your changes. I'm not sure yet if I'll bring the egg and hubby to the RTR, or if it'll just be me in the Prius.  I'm rooting for the egg <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> When do you get the rig checked out?  And do you know when you'll be on your maiden voyage?  Hope to check out your Captain's Log. I haven't been on the road much.  Mostly focusing on downsizing here at the sticks-and-bricks.  But, will be on a short trip here in a few days to a local national park ... gotta soothe those itchy feet every now and again. Chilli cook off?  I can bring my best can of chili, or stop at Hatch New Mexico and try to get some. Chili, Chili with pork for me is a no go But, I WILL bring some Chinese chickens, and cook them up for you guys, (so far everyone loves them) It has become a tradition to BBQ them for my Canadian friends in Yuma. Suanne, I'm rooting for the egg, too!The floor plan is like nothing I have seen before or imagined.  I'm headed out to get pictures shortly.    I'm really focused on rebuilding the emergency fund/$$$ cushion, at the moment.  She'll be going to the mechanics next week and depending on the outcome I'll probably take her down to the lake for a few days. My first extended excursion will be RTR2012.  That could also be when I give up the stix and brix depending on the $$$ situation (When I look at my budget, it seems like I am pushing it, but I may start buying lottery tickets, if I win I'll be headed for NM in October to meet up with Bri, Steve and others).   Putz, I could have sworn you were one of the people talking about a chili cook off.  I know you're doing the BBQ in Kansas and DANG! I'd like to be there.  Those Chinese chickens sound good! I'm looking forward to that.
