Hi All,

I'm looking for recommendations for a roof vent fan for my Promaster City. I was thinking about the Max Air but it seems like it's over kill for the Promaster. I also intend to eventually add a roof rack to carry various things and it looks as if it will get in the way. It seems to big and I'm not sure I need that much airflow.

Am I on the wrong track?

Thanks

I’m in a conversion van with a fiberglass top. With my limited skills I didn’t want to drill Cut holes to put a fan in. I bought into a tool system from Walmart cold heart tools. They have a really nice fan that you can operate by battery. One for amp battery but last 18 hours on low. That Philip fan moves lots of air so I can put it by the window and use it as an exhaust or turn it around and use it as an intake or just blow it on myself to make me feel cooler. So far it has worked for me. The other battery operated tour companies have similar and better better products Than heart. But quality for dollar I chose heart and I’m satisfied. Another plus to this is if I have to leave my rig behind for a while and live in a tent or find another rig my fan goes with me. Not saying I know the best I just know what’s working for me.

I have small astrovan about the same size as your van, and you do need all the airflow you can get. Once the sun hits the van it starts getting hot. Get the biggest vent fan you can find.
On my roof vent fan, I took the cover off and put a solar panel over it, the panel does a good job of keeping the rain out. If you put a roof rack, just put something flat that will go over the roof vent.
A roof vent doesnt help much in hot weather. I have to use a swampcooler to stay cool. On a hot day I measure the temperature of the air coming in from the roof at 115F degrees. Even though the outside temp might in the 90's, the metal skin of the van heats up the air.

Hi. I have a Promaster city. with a maxx fan. got the 8 speed so I could go down to .2 amp draw.
Heins made me a nice gasket to fit the roof. I made a 16 inch square where i wanted it and the scanned
a van and made it . TI had it installed professionally by a sunroof inststaller buisness for about 150$.
They actually took 50$ off price for having the gasket.
If i had a do over i would be more careful about location as to roof rack mounts and solar panels.

For incoming air on the Promaster i cut through the factory partition . Trimmed it
with wood and have a  3/8 plywood panel on clips . The panel cannot go through
the opening
There is 6*10 screen covered with a piece of cloth in the panel. I have rain guards on
the windows and just open them a bit.
