Just curious as to whether any other ladies have run into this issue...
The house I'm in is up for sale and I'm hoping to be full-timing within a month or two. Several friends have asked me where I'm moving to once the house sells. While I haven't told many people what my plans are, I have told my closest friends. When I explained what I'm intending to do, the responses from my female friends have been kind of...well, rude. One friend stated "Oh, well I guess that sounds kinda fun" in a rather pissy tone and now she's barely speaking to me. Another female friend had a similar response. It's like they were actually offended at the thought of someone not being as "tied down" as they are (spouses, children, mortgage, etc). My male friends on the other hand have been incredibly helpful and supportive and have stated outright that they wish they were in a position to do the same thing.
So, my question is...why is it so difficult for some females to be supportive of each other? I mean, I've been friends with these girls since I was a kid (we're in our 40's now) and I'd like to think that they would be happy that I'm following my dream to be on the road. Instead it feels like, since they're unhappy with their lives, I'm expected to be unhappy with mine as well.
Has anyone else encountered something similar or do I just have some crappy friends?
Thanks,
Jemma
