My door seals have never given me trouble, but I took the driver's side seal halfway off and put it back and now it won't stay in place even for two seconds. I put it back where it was and it immediately falls off. Is there some trick I'm missing? I'm about to glue it in place because it's driving me mad.

I also have to address this problem. Hope to read some helpful tips.

I'm not an expert but using adhesive to hold it on may be your best bet. I've seen some that use adhesive in the first place. You might even some some old residue on the seal.

Also the rubber has probably dried out over the years and isn't as flexible as it once was.

I've used the adhesive in Mr. Noodly's first link (3M Black Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive 8008).  It is a very good adhesive but outgassed some pretty toxic stuff.  I wouldn't use it in something that you are currently living in.  Read the MSDS information sheet linked to at the bottom of the product info.

I used silicone, it worked to glue the rubber to the door and to itself.

Not sure about yours but my weather stripping has metal inside the portion which fits onto the body. Could be that it was a bit brittle inside and removing it widened it a little. If that's the case you could try crimping it back with some pliers. Otherwise perhaps a dab of silicone will have to do. At least it will pull off easy if you need to.

Sounds like I'm not missing any trick. I'm going to glue it back in place, probably using polyurethane based adhesive. I like breathing volatile compounds.

Does it have those little "T" shaped plastic clips?  Sometimes they come out and sometimes they go back in and sometimes they get broke when you remove them.  You may have to place them in a different place in the weatherstrip by making a small hole in the weatherstrip itself and drill a new hole in the door.  I had to do that on my 97 B3500 and it worked well.  I found the new clips at NAPA.  Balkamp# 665-2390.
I'm sure Oreiley and AutoZone could cross that #.

I squirted some water into the channel of the seal, mushed it around in place to disperse the water, squirted some gorilla glue into various places of the same channel, put it back, closed the door and walked away. I don't think I could pull it off one-handed now.

For those that didn't know, gorilla glue works best when mating surfaces are wetted.
