I was at the pilot truck stop, watching dem youtubes, when i caught a wiff of exhaust. Not a big deal, vehicles drive by and big trucks etc. Well after a while my head hurt and then i started feeling green in the gills. Then it clicked that I was still hearing the same engine running next to me like 30 mins later. I throw open the slider and there is this guy, just napping or something in his car with the engine going pretty fast and his exhaust blasting right into/under my van. He was inadvertently poisoning me :(

I know, insert 20 warnings about a CO detector, i plan to get another one this week. My last one was messed up, and I hadn't remembered to replace it. Well that was a pretty good reminder!

Either way, it had never occurred to me that this was a source of CO danger but I guess it should have.

This thread is a good example of the value of this forum. I would have known of this CO danger if asked, but I would not have thought about it when parking. Now it is back in my mind. Time to stop procrastinating and get the new detectors.

no doubt Zil!

now that I've got me a new* MH, onna the things I'm adding to my "to-do" list will be a new smoke/CO2 detector.

Thanx DG...glad you spotted this, before it spotted YOU!!

Ok, so new detector arrived, and im liking it. Here is a video i made testing the co in van with buddy heater, with roof vent closed and then after i open it

What is the brand and model of this detector ?

Ordered one. It's tech. It's amazon it's a bargain

Yeah my only complaint is that it was advertised as backlit for lowlight, but it isn't..have to use flashlight.

I went to Amazon to check it out. Their are two consistent complaints on that unit.
1. Mounting holes do not line up with older units.
2. No backlighting.
95% of the customers are well pleased with that unit.

Definitely on my list for safety equipment. Thank You!

Interesting, a bad storm hit so i closed my vent while charging my batteries. Now i know that they offgas while charging but was surprised to find my co alarm going off with a reading of 86 ppm when i opened the door.

When driving in a traffic jam I always wonder why I get sick. Thought it was just motion sickness from stop and go. Now I think it might be CO build up around the cars in clouds at ground level. Invisible clouds. How would you know unless you have a CO monitor ?
