I'm a little over a week at this point of being out of my apartment and into the combo of my rv van and truck. I'd say I'm using my truck about 80% of the time being the rv van isn't much fun to drive around daily.

I've done about 500 miles just this week visiting various places and randomly exploring. This has me a bit worried about switching to a actual cargo van full time.

I'm ordering if I might need to consider something that will be cheaper on gas.

Here on the east coast diesel is abut 40 cents more per gal than regular. Meaning it would need to get a lot better mileage just to break even. The other issue, is all I ever see are 6.0s which I hear are over complicated.

I have however found a very nice 2007 with only 70k or so miles on it for 13k but not sure if I want to risk getting a 6.0.

I think you drive less as time goes on. You find favorite places and spend more time in them rather than looking for new places. I'm sure most would agree. We tend to do a lot of traveling in the beginning, exploring and crossing things off the list. Then we slow down.
