The posts on this page are folks offering spots on private land. In my County that would not be allowed effective midnight last night.

Is anyone aware of first hand reports of people being displaced, including Moab?

My County is just to the SE across the border in Colorado. Last nights order directs visitors to return home. It does not specifically address the case of full time visitors, though I can imagine how it will be interpreted.

Montrose and Montezuma counties to the North and South of us are open as of now as is San Juan in southeastern most Utah. I have rubber tramp friends in Montezuma and San Juan, I plan to check out what’s happening in Montrose against the state border after this storm passes, and I am still legally able to do so.

Great resourcr, thanks for the link.  Boondockers Welcome is also staying open.  -crofter

DL, are you saying the county will start running campers/RVers off National Forest land in the county?

The wording is that all visitors are ordered to return home, that might be a loophole but I wouldn’t trust it.

I’ve asked via legal submittal for today’s emergency meeting. Don’t know if they will respond.

I suppose local counties can enforce their own restrictions on Federal lands within their counties, but who knows.

I had a conversation recently with a Nye County Nevada Sheriff's Deputy and he was very clear that "BLM land" within Nye County is under Nye County legal jurisdiction. He was a polite fellow and was not throwing his weight around.
Think of BLM as the manager of Public land, while the land is still considered to be under the jurisdiction of local authorities.
As long as the County is not impinging on BLM's authority, there shouldn't be a problem with the County making emergency rules for Public Safety.
Buried somewhere in BLM's rules and regs, there is probably some wording that says the Public MAY use BLM land in such and such way, but such usage is NOT a Right.
