Dashcam

I am thinking of getting a proper dash cam....
I have read reviews, look at some videos, but am always interested in personal experiences. 
For those who use them, what features do you like, not like...
Are you just using your phone or an honest to goodness dash cam?

A spare phone with dashcam software is (IMO) superior to actual dashcams. Massively configurable and very cheap ($3-$5).

I needed to add a backup cam to my van or I would have stayed with the phone I used in my truck.

What I'd like is a retired Google Street View multi-camera setup. Capture 360 degrees. Whee!
