Been looking at flagstaff very seriously. I hear there's a guy around there that can help me get some easily transferable solar panels hooked up. What's the market for cars like around there, do you know? I'm looking to trade a 99 jaguar xj8 with cash to boot on a wrangler of some flavor. Should I try to dump it here?

I really wanna go offer this guy 500 bucks and call it a day.

First of all welcome to the forums! If you haven't already check out this website - http://www.familiesontheroad.com/

Living outside is a general practice with RVers and boondockers so you'll fit right in. Kids really love it!

I looked at the craigslist ad. The RV looks pretty good but the photographs aren't very clear. I can see what appears to be water damage on the ceiling in the last picture. There seems to a lot of caulking on the right front corner. What is behind the shower curtain? Some older RVs don't have surrounds plus the shower pans may be cracked. A photograph of the roof would give you a good idea whether leaks have occurred and been fixed.

It's a good idea to look at any RV in person before buying. Try offering $500. He might accept it but it seems that most running RVs are worth a couple of thousand dollars.

As we have 8 inches of snow on the ground right now it's given me a chance to think over the floor plan. I don't think i can settle for anything less than 2 permanent beds. We're flexible on tenting as an extra bedroom in the right places but I'm going to pass on this one. 500 is probably too low and i would have to find parking while I outfit it and move in.

Thanks for the link. My wife has be digging into that one for a little while now looking for ideas on minimizing stuff and maximizing space. Not to mention all the cool things this lifestyle makes accessible as well as all the clogged hoses, dreary days in the rain, and sleepless nights. We're really trying to go into this with the best handle on reality we can. That being said we have countless questions. Pondering the unknown I suppose.

Oh yeah. 55+. Not a fan. Boo.

Lol

The restrictions on parks. Not the people. Quite fond of my elders. Just to clear that up.

Many thanks for bringing tires up. They can look great, but be a serious accident waiting to happen. Check those date codes!

Keep in mind that class C's don't have as large of waste tanks as the class A's for the most part. This can make boondocking for a family a little tricky unless you like making a run to dump often. Two of us can usually go for close to 2 weeks on ours.

Sounds like you should go out and look at some rigs, ask questions and see what suits your particular needs.

When you're ready for solar check in here before breaking out the cash.

good luck with your search.
