I was told today that the cost for a national parks pass was going up from $10 to $80 at the end of August .....

Can anyone confirm this and how can I get one over the internet ( home convalescing from surgery )

Yes, the price for the Senior Pass has been announced as increasing from $10 to 80 but the last time I checked nps.gov, last week, the end date was not given. Maybe your source had seen an updated announcement.

I read on nps.gov and/ or the BLM site that if you puchase the pass on line, there is a $10 proceesing fee as well, To avoid the fee, again. check the websites - BLM has a long list by state, of the BLM offices in that state that wil sell you the pass, in person. Apparently not every BLM office does this. I know because I called the BLM office that the list showed as a seller for my area, and obtained their office hours. The different types of passes, etc. is on those sites, when you follow the links.

(i'm sorry not to provide the exact live hyperlinks but I am not having good luck switching back and forth between CRVL messages in progress and other URLs. Newbie. Very un-Vanna-like, I keep losing letters, paragraphs and whole drafts on CRVL. CRVL site nav practice is i indicated!)w

The price of the lifetime Senior Pass will increase to $80 on August 28, 2017. A new $20 annual Senior Pass will become available at the same time. See more information about changes to the Senior Pass.

Van progress today ; I ordered ( using Bob's Amazon link  ) an AGM battery ; solenoid ; fusepanel and 10 guage wire  ..
...HAPPY Grandpa !!

There is also a pass available for those that are disabled that you can apply for on-line $10 or print out and bring your documentation to closest authorized park to be issued. This is a lifetime pass similar to but not the same as the senior one. I have sent in for mine.

Also , for those that aren't 62 or disabled.
They have an annual pass for $20.
And you get credit for them towards the lifetime pass. So , say if you're 58 and get the annual $20 pass for the next 4 years .
You can get the lifetime at 62 for the value of the last 4 yearly passes . So save 'em up!

Last day to buy the Senior Pass for $10 with no processing fee is Friday Aug. 25 IN PERSON at the BLM Office that is seing them for your are,a. *Not every BLM office sells the pass*
