I was surprised to see no topic for entertainment.. If I missed it, please place this post there.

http://librivox.org/

For free public domain audio books. For all you armchair or RV philosophers out there, you can get all the classics in audio book form to keep you entertained on those long drives. They have books by Homer, Thoreau, Virgil, Plato, Dante, etc. and all other public domain books.

Actually playing them can be a little tricky. If you have an ipod that plugs into your car stereo, you are already set. Just download to your ipod and plug n play.
I'm fortunate enough to have a fairly cheap car stereo that came with a USB port, so I just download them to a memory stick and plug that in and away I go.
Another option is to convert them to wav format and burn them to a CD. Most CD burning software will do this for you if you select "make an audio CD".
Some car stereos will read MP3s off of a CD which will let you put them on the CD without converting them to wavs first, which will allow you to put a lot more on there. Just select "Make a data CD". If you need more help, feel free to ask. I can respond on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Yeah, having a car stereo that'll play MP3 discs is GREAT! I installed one in my little cargo trailer camper when I converted it a couple years ago.

I made all kinds of MP3 music discs, with an average of 200 songs on each one! With just a few discs, I can have this MASSIVE music library on hand!

Not to mention, as U said, the USB port on the front, which opens up even more options!

If you'll allow me to go so far as to say ... I think we should re-learn some long lost arts. Music and story telling for starters. This means we spend more time practicing and perfecting our art. Ultimately this makes our get together's that much more entertaining! What can I say, I'm old school!

I think many of us travel to get away from the need for such entertainments.

Steve

Need a poet? Sometimes bring my 12 string guitar along. I could brush up on auld ballads such as "Polly Vaughn'
I couldn't agree more, and this is an excellent way to achieve that. My storytelling has improved quite a bit since I started listening to other story tellers.
