I have a pair of gc2 batteries that normally take
me about 3 hours to ge them to taper to 5 amps, lately all the sudden
there getting down to 5 amps in a hour
My available power seems to still be good.
I don't  know what happened.

If those are flooded batteries I'd suggest that you test them with a hydrometer to get a better idea of what is going on. Be sure to adjust the hydrometer's reading for the temperature of the electrolyte. Wear safety glasses.

Have you equalized the batteries?

Not a good sign.

How old are the batteries? How often and how deeply are they normally discharged? How often do they achieve float? How often are they equalized? If flooded, then how often do you check water level? What is the water level now?

The indication suggests battery damage that effectively reduced capacity through sulfation and/or plate damage from underwater. The only thing you can do is check water, refill if necessary, then equalize. Do not overfill before equalizing and let the battery cool before doing a capacity test. After you cycle the battery I would equalize again.

Assuming your depth of discharge is the same
Assuming your Ammeter is accurate.

Then your batteries are indeed showing signs of their imminent demise.

Since you don't ever fully charge them I am sure this is of no surprise.

Attempts at EQing them at this point could prove slightly beneficial, or not at all, and just waste gas in your generator.

Just keep using them but have a plan in case one shorts a cell or for when they can no longer meet your capacity requirements.  Could be anywhere from 2 days to 2 months away, but I hope i am wrong and you get 6, but it seems unlikely.
